Dr. Panos Gakis graduated from the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2012.
Following his graduation, he served as a dental officer in the Hellenic Army.
In 2018, he completed a three-year advanced specialty program in Prosthodontics and earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology from the Texas A&M University College of Dentistry. In the same year, Dr. Gakis joined the faculty at UT Health San Antonio as a Clinical Assistant Professor.
In 2021, he became Interim Program Director for the Graduate Prosthodontics Program. In 2019, Dr. Gakis received the 3rd place Stanley D. Tylman Award from the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics for his research.
In 2020, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Gakis is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI).
His areas of expertise include Clinical Prosthodontics, Digital Dentistry, and Dental Laboratory Technologies.
