Endodontics is the dental specialty that refers to the interior of the tooth and treats endodontic lesions within the root canals. During endodontic treatment, blood vessels and the nerve are removed from the pulp chamber in the center of the tooth and the canals are cleaned and disinfected. The dentist fills the canals with a special filling material, the gutta-percha.
