10 tips for brushing your teeth
There’s plenty of advice out there about brushing your teeth. We’ve picked the 10 most important tips and listed them below for easy reference:
- Choose a soft or medium toothbrush, not a hard one. Hard toothbrushes can increase the risk of injuring your gums.
- Select toothpaste based on your needs (sensitive gums, plaque removal, etc.).
- Use an electric toothbrush for a more effective clean—just make sure you use it correctly!
- Change your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head every three months.
- Follow the “2×2” rule: brush twice a day for two minutes each time.
- In addition to all surfaces of your teeth, brush your tongue and the insides of your cheeks.
- Pay special attention to the chewing surfaces of your teeth.
- Avoid aggressive movements; it doesn’t take much force to remove plaque.
- Floss or use an interdental brush once a day.
- Rinse with mouthwash for 30 seconds.
By following these tips, you can maintain better oral health. However, this doesn’t mean you should neglect regular visits to the dentist! Check-ups and cleanings, even if you feel fine, are essential to prevent problems before they arise.
